RELEASE DATE: NOVEMBER 14, 2005
Nonesuch Records will release Kicking Television: Live in Chicago, a live two-disc set by the rock band Wilco, on November 14. The album, recorded at the Vic Theatre in the band’s hometown over four nights in May, captures the energy of Wilco’s live performances, which have earned Wilco continued praise around the world. Kicking Television was produced by Wilco and mixed by studio veteran Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews, Johnny Cash).
“It’s really the best it has ever felt,” lead singer and guitarist Jeff Tweedy recently told the Detroit Free Press, commenting on the line-up of John Stirratt (bass), Glenn Kotche (drums), Mike Jorgensen (keyboards), Nels Cline (guitars), Pat Sansone (multi-instruments) and himself. “I would say at this point, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a band that’s felt this connected and unified with the collective vision.”
Included are songs spanning most of the Wilco catalogue, plus a cover of Charles Wright’s ‘Comment’, which the band first performed live in December 2004.
The complete, sequenced track listing is as follows:
Disc One: ‘Misunderstood’, ‘Company In My Back’, ‘The Late Greats’, ‘Hell Is Chrome’, ‘Handshake Drugs’, ‘I Am Trying To Break Your Heart’, ‘Shot in the Arm’, ‘At Least That’s What You Said’, ‘Wishful Thinking’, ‘Jesus, Etc.’, ‘I’m The Man Who Loves You’, ‘Kicking Television’.
Disc Two: ‘Via Chicago’, ‘Hummingbird’, ‘Muzzle Of Bees’, ‘One By One’, ‘Airline To Heaven’, ’Radio Cure’, ‘Ashes Of American Flags’, ’Heavy Metal Drummer’, ‘Poor Places’, ‘Spiders (Kidsmoke)’, ‘Comment’.
In addition to the release of Kicking Television this fall, Jeff Tweedy will perform an exclusive one-off solo date at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on November 22. Wilco will also perform at the upcoming Farm Aid 20th Anniversary benefit concert, the Austin City Limits Festival, The Tim Festival in Rio de Janeiro and more.
