ONCE AND NEVER AGAIN
New Single released 23rd October 2006 on Rough Trade

The Long Blondes announce their new single "Once And Never Again" (released 23rd October) and debut album "Somone To Drive You Home" (released 6th November). The Long Blondes embark on their first headline tour throughout the UK in October (dates below). Next London date is 17th October @ Mean Fiddler.

The Long Blondes; sardonic style icon and protagonist-in-chief Kate Jackson, guitarist Dorian Cox, bassist Reenie Hollis, keyboardist Emma Chaplin and drummer Screech. The next chapter of Sheffield's idiosyncratic musical heritage: they combine the suburban disco fantasies of the Human League, the opulent ridiculousness of ABC, the seedy glamour of Pulp.

After breaking into the Top 30 with their debut Rough Trade single Weekend Without Makeup, The Long Blondes are back with new single Once And Never Again and debut album Someone To Drive You Home, which are sure to see them climb further up the hit parade. Once And Never Again, (a firm fan favourite as confirmed by the mass singalong during their triumphant performances at Reading & Leeds) delivers on the anticipation in spades and is an instant Long Blondes classic. The witty yet disturbing narratives, the barely contained guitar lines and drum crashes. Like the Slits playing Roxy Music or Donna Summer reciting the collected works of Harold Pinter, the Long Blondes are truly becoming auteurs of the perfect left-field pop song.

Over the past year or so, The Long Blondes set the pulse of music lovers racing with a brace of exhilarating 45s; The Hitchcock-inspired Appropriation (By Any Other Name), bona fide cult classic Giddy Stratospheres, and Separated By Motorways. They scooped NME"s Philip Hall Radar Award (previously won by Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs) and played shows to increasingly frenzied crowds, and now their debut is set to follow in the footsteps of every literate pop moment in the last 40 years. With truly a Carry On cast"s worth of characters all with loves, hates and passions just like yours. It's a Blonde, Blonde, Blonde, Blonde world. Now just lie back and enjoy it.
