New Single: Diamonds In The Dark
August 14th 2006
Mystery Jets release new single 'Diamonds In the Dark' through 679 Recordings on August 14th 2006. Original appearing on the band's debut album Making Dens last March the track has been especially re-recorded with Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, Kaiser Chiefs, Zutons).
Diamonds In the Dark sees Mystery Jets moving away from the character based songs of Agnes and Dennis to a more personal and revealing tale of first love found and lost. Set on the streets of Camden, it at once strikes chords of camaraderie while retaining the unexpected elements of experimentation and beauty we have come to expect from the band- combining Johnny Maar's fuzzed up guitars, Brain Eno's ambient keyboards and perhaps even a touch of Andre 3000 infiltrating an otherwise decidedly different, but British sound.
Released on CD and 2x7"s B sides will be two new tracks (tbc) recorded with Trash DJ extraordinaire Erol Alkan. Uniting dancefloors with his Zoo Time remix back in October last year, Alkan finally moves out from behind the decks and edges into position behind the mixing desk.
Mystery Jets kicked off their year ripping up the NME Awards Tour alongside the Arctic Monkeys and Maximo Park, then heading off across the UK and Europe in May on a sold out headline tour. The band are appearing at a number of festivals over the summer, including a headline slot at Truck and special appearance at Fuji Rock and Summercase Festival Spain with Daft Punk and Massive Attack.
