Manu Chao releases free download as prelude
to new album release
Manu Chao - the legendary French-Spanish artist whose 1998 album ‘Clandestino’ was a landmark in global Latin fusion - is giving away his new single as a free download next Monday, 28th May.
The song, ‘Rainin in Paradize’, will be available on www.manuchao.net from Monday 28th May. The single comes as the prelude to Chao’s new album on Because Music, which will be in stores on Monday 27th August.
The as-yet untitled new release is Chao’s first album since his acclaimed ‘Próxima Estación: Esperanza’ in 2001, although he also produced Amadou and Mariam's worldwide hit album ‘Dimanche à Bamako’, released in 2005.
Chao has produced the new album with the help of mixers Mario Caldato (Beastie Boys, Jack Johnson) and Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mars Volta). Chao begins his most extensive North American tour this coming Friday, 25th May, following a highly acclaimed co-headline performance at this year’s Coachella festival in the USA. According to the influential Pitchfork website, Chao proved a “the ringmaster of a multicultural, cross-generational, genre-busting circus that can whip tens of thousands of people into a frenzy even if they don't speak the same language.”
