Death From Above 1979 release ‘Black History Month’ the third single from their universally praised debut album ‘You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine’ on June 13th. ‘Black History Month’ is one of the standout tracks from the album and has been a firm live favourite with fans for some time. Death from Above 1979’s previous single ‘Blood On Our Hands’ entered the charts at No 33, ‘Black History Month’ looks set to follow it.
The single will come with some more amazing remixes. Both the Erol Alkan remix of Romantic Rights and the Justice remix of ‘Blood On Our Hands’ were massive on the countries more discerning dancefloors. The Alan Braxe & Fred Falke disco re-rub of ‘Black History Month’ looks safe to follow them. There is also a twisted acid-rock remix from Sammy Danger of Test-Icicles, Test-Icicles will be supporting the band on their forthcoming May tour. Elsewhere, available for the first time, is Death From Above 1979’s cover of the Bloc Party track Luno which was commissioned by Bloc Party themselves.
The band are still touring the US. Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age recently caught the band playing live and shortly after declared them his new favourite band. Queens Of The Stone Age are now remixing some of the band’s favourite tracks, the results of which will be released in the near future. Death From Above 1979 will return to the UK on May 18th. They recently added appearances at some of the best UK festivals, they’re playing Carling Weekend Reading And Leeds Festivals on the NME/Radio 1 Stage on the 26th and 27th August. There is also a warm-up for Reading and Leeds on August 23rd at the Mean Fiddler, tickets for which are fast selling out.
