Indie-dance band Cut Copy announce their new single Going Nowhere set for release on the 23rd January on Modular / Island records. They recently wowed audiences on a huge US tour with Franz Ferdinand, and completed a successful headline jaunt through the UK in October 2005.
Cut Copy - Dan Whitford (front man), Tim Hoey (guitar) and Mitchell Scott (drums) - hail from Melbourne, Australia. Their debut paints a picture of a band combining dancefloor sensibilities with memorable hooks, garage rock and classic songwriting, in the tradition of such past masters such as New Order and Human League. Bright Like Neon Love is rightfully being hailed as the one of the breakthrough records of the year.
One of the strongest tracks on Bright Like Neon Love, Going Nowhere is a euphoric, lovesick blast of jagged riffage and pounding drums that call to mind a coupling between Talking Heads and Daft Punk (or according to US press “Daftpunktastic”), sure to cause dance-floor destruction in rock clubs and discos alike. Cut Copy personally asked remixers Sebastian, Digitalism and indie dance overlord Whitey to redo the track and the three have delivered an incredible package with creative zeal.
What the press said about Bright Like Neon Love:
