ANNOUNCING ANOTHER YEAR OF NW1'S MOST SALUBRIOUS ALTERNATIVE MUSIC EXPERIENCE THURSDAY 20thAPRIL 2006
12 VENUES * 50 BANDS * FREE DBL CD
CAMDEN TOWN, LONDON. 4PM - 4AM
Following the unprecedented success of last year's 10th anniversary celebration of the event, the Camden Crawl makes its return as an annual fixture in the adventurous music fan's diary Thursday 20th April 2006. Uniting London's most prolific independent music promoters to host the one day festival under one virtual ceiling, this year's Crawl boasts more than 50 of 2006's most exciting burgeoning talents across Camden Town's legendary rock 'n roll venues. For the paltry sum of £20.00, the dedicated music punter will gain access to 12 gig venues and the possibility of seeing any number of artists appearing at the event with the guidance of their free CD programme. By joining the quest to discover this year's greatest musical treasures, each Crawl pioneer will be provided with a timetable map housed in a free double CD set upon arrival at the festival. This CD programme will feature a track by each artist performing at the Crawl to keep as a memento of events witnessed as well as reveal undiscovered gems. Venue line ups and timings will remain a mystery to Crawlers until the night of the event to add to the exploratory spirit of the evening. Traditional headliners and surprise guests may appear at any time or venue at the Crawl, so festival goers are advised to arrive early.
CRAWL HISTORY...
Prior to 2005's sold-out event, London's Camden Town hosted the event for three consecutive years (1995 - 1997). The Crawl brought together a huge line up of inventive new bands and established artists with an aim to support the development of new music in Britain through the aesthetic quality of the bill, a low cost ticket for music fans and by building a sense of camaraderie with the equal billing of artists. These now legendary historic Crawls featured early performances by Snow Patrol, Beth Orton, Mogwai and such luminaries as Echo and the Bunnymen, Moby, Tanya Donnelly and the venerable Wedding Present. Last Spring's re-inauguration of the event showcased over 40 rising talents, including The Magic Numbers, Hard-Fi, Maximo Park, The Subways, Kooks, Mystery Jets, The Cribs, Hope Of The States, Hot Chip, Nine Black Alps and Secret Machines, who have each subsequently made significant dents in the upper echelons of the UK Top 40 as well as influential established artists such as Graham Coxon, Andrew Weatherall, Le Tigre and Buzzcocks. The 2006 Camden Crawl promises the same and more......
